How does PhD comics always know what I’m thinking?
I remember reading on someone’s blog a while ago that one can only have two of three things in grad school: Life, Work, and Sleep. Last semester, I chose Life and Sleep and we all know how well that turned out. This semester, I thought I might try trading in Sleep for Work just to to see how that might work out for me. I might overdose on caffeine or sugar while I try but I draw the line at energy drinks.
I function best on eight full hours of sleep but if I spend a third of my life sleeping, I don’t see how I might do my work the way it should be done and have a life too. By having a life I mean taking time out to watch movies, read, cook, work out, and do random things like planting a container garden this spring, bake some fabulously complicated things and just generally do the things that I love to do.
How do you think it’s going to work out? I give myself a week before I trade a bit of life and a lot of work for sleep… Any guesses?
